Model History

The 1932 Ford Roadster Highboy is one of the most celebrated icons of American automotive culture, embodying the ingenuity and rebellious spirit of early hot rodding. Born from Ford’s groundbreaking 1932 lineup, it was the first affordable car to feature a V8 engine—the legendary flathead V8—offering unprecedented power to everyday drivers. Lightweight, stylish, and accessible, the ’32 Ford quickly became the canvas of choice for performance-minded enthusiasts.

The “Highboy” configuration—so named because the body was mounted above the frame rails rather than channeled over them—gave the car a distinctive, elevated stance. Builders often stripped away fenders, lowered the suspension, and added custom touches, creating a raw, streamlined look that emphasized speed and individuality. This minimalist approach not only reduced weight but also highlighted the Roadster’s sleek proportions and exposed wheels.

During the postwar years, the 1932 Ford Highboy became a symbol of youthful expression and mechanical creativity. It was inexpensive to buy, easy to modify, and endlessly adaptable, which made it the foundation of the hot rod movement.

Today, the ’32 Ford Roadster Highboy stands as a timeless representation of American car culture—equal parts innovation, style, and freedom—celebrated as the definitive hot rod.

Brief Description

This exceptional steel-body 1932 Ford Roadster Highboy was built on a custom TCI frame, specially constructed by TCI to showcase their craftsmanship and engineering excellence. Designed as a showpiece build, no expense was spared in its creation.

Power comes from a 350 V8 Chevy engine paired with a 400 Turbo automatic transmission and a 9-inch Ford rear end, delivering true hot rod performance. The car features coil-over suspension, a high-lift cam, rack-and-pinion steering, and Wilwood four-wheel disc brakes for outstanding handling and control.

Finished in brilliant red paint with hand-painted flames, this Highboy exudes classic street rod style. It rides on Rocket wheels up front and Cragar wheels in the rear, complemented by a matching red canvas Carson-style removable top. The interior features Stewart-Warner instruments, maintaining an authentic vintage appearance.

Under the hood sits a Quick Fuel Technology 4-barrel carburetor, a high-performance aluminum unit with billet metering blocks, precision tuning, and dual fuel inlet bowls.
