Model History

The 1964 Cadillac Eldorado represented the pinnacle of Cadillac’s prestige and exclusivity during the early 1960s. As the top-of-the-line convertible in Cadillac’s lineup, the Eldorado offered buyers a blend of style, power, and craftsmanship that was unmatched in the luxury market. Its clean, refined design featured sharp body lines, an expansive grille, and subtle tailfins that were more restrained than the flamboyant designs of the previous decade. Limited production numbers made the Eldorado even more desirable, serving as a status symbol for those seeking the very best Cadillac had to offer.

Powering the Eldorado was Cadillac’s robust 429 cubic-inch V8 engine, introduced for 1964 and delivering 340 horsepower. This advanced engine provided effortless acceleration and smooth highway performance, perfectly suited for long-distance touring. Inside, the Eldorado showcased Cadillac’s dedication to luxury with a meticulously appointed cabin featuring premium materials, leather upholstery, and power-operated conveniences such as windows, seats, and top. Options like automatic climate control further demonstrated Cadillac’s reputation for innovation.

What made the 1964 Cadillac Eldorado especially attractive to the public was its rare combination of exclusivity, cutting-edge engineering, and timeless style. It embodied Cadillac’s role as the “Standard of the World,” offering drivers an automobile that was as much a symbol of achievement as it was a luxurious open-air cruiser.

Brief Description

This Cadillac Eldorado is one of 1,870 produced by Cadillac in 1964 and is an example of the last year the model was produced with fins. It was originally owned by a GM dealer and stored in a climate-controlled garage. It entered our collection in 2019.

The vehicle underwent a complete body-off restoration and was restored to its original factory specifications. All of the chrome was refinished, the paint was done in a base coat/clear coat to its original aqua blue color, and the interior was restored to its factory-correct perforated leather interior.

This car has all the options available to it at the time with the exception of bucket seats. It was also the first year for climate-control air conditioning.
