Model History

The 1966 Cadillac Eldorado represented the final expression of Cadillac’s long tradition of exclusive, limited-production convertibles before the model’s redesign in 1967. Distinguished as the top-of-the-line offering in Cadillac’s fleet, the Eldorado combined the elegance of the DeVille convertible with unique styling details, luxury appointments, and an aura of exclusivity. Only a few thousand examples were produced, making it one of the rarest Cadillacs of the decade.

Stylistically, the 1966 Eldorado reflected Cadillac’s refined design language of the mid-1960s, marked by sharp body lines, a bold horizontal grille, and restrained rear fins that offered a balance of sophistication and presence. As a full-size convertible, it delivered a commanding road presence while still maintaining Cadillac’s hallmark grace. Under the hood, a powerful 429 cubic-inch V8 engine provided smooth, effortless performance, ideal for the long-distance cruising Cadillac owners expected.

Inside, the Eldorado was a showcase of luxury, offering features such as leather upholstery, power accessories, and advanced options like automatic climate control. With its combination of rarity, prestige, and craftsmanship, the 1966 Eldorado appealed to discerning buyers who sought not only the ultimate in Cadillac comfort but also the distinction of driving one of the most exclusive American luxury convertibles of its era.

Brief Description

Originally from the state of Illinois, this car was purchased from the son of the original owner in 2008 in Florida. All mileage on this Eldorado is original - and to this day the mileage remains at an impressively low 20k miles!

After entering our collection, this car was meticulously refurbished back to its original high quality level of perfection. The exterior of the car was repainted, and the chrome was refinished on the front and rear bumpers due to age. The interior of the car still has all of its original white leather seats.

In 2022, this car took 1st place in its category at the Cadillac & LaSalle Club's Grand National Meet. It received a high score score of 92.5 out of 100 total possible points.
